The Oregon Territory Antique Phonograph Society - OTAPS
October 2019 Meeting

Russie and Lori Ofria

The meeting at Russie and Lori Ofria's home was really fun. There was great food, lots of friends from near and far, some phonograph sales, and of course the terrific collection.

One of the highlights of the day was a demonstration on wood veneer repair presented by Russie. He has a process that takes the fear out of attempting to patch damaged veneer. Below is a short video that shows a very small part of that demonstration. Prior to the video Russie had shown how to prepare both pieces of wood with Elmers Wood Glue thinned enough to paint and dry. Then the pieces get connected using the heat of an iron. Notice he forces the edges of the patch into the repair space with the iron. He then sands the remaining off for a clean patch. Amazing!
