March 2018 Meeting and Show

Bob and Cay Thomsen - March 10, 2018 and Rose City Collectors Market show - March 11, 2018

It was another great OTAPS weekend. Cay and I welcomed over 20 members to our home on Saturday. On Sunday, members set-up at our 5th annual Rose City Collectors Market / OTAPS Show in Portland. OTAPS members commented that sales overall were very good. -- Bob Thomsen

The Oregon Territory Antique Phonograph Society hosted 2 events the weekend of March 11 and 12. Bob and Cay Thomsen hosted a lovely meeting at their home in Vancouver, Washington on Saturday. Food and a large cake, with the OTAPS logo, greeted members. Much time was spent viewing Bob's collection that included 2 Class M Electric machines as well as other unique phonographs and phonograph advertising items.

Our annual March meeting is followed a day later by a Phonograph Sale held in conjunction with the monthly Rose City Collector’s Market. This year the Sunday Sale was held at Portland Meadows Horse Racing Track. The Racing Track is an iconic Portland Landmark and the Collector’s Market is held in the enclosed grand stand. This was our 5th annual sale with the Rose City Collector’s group. Ten collector/dealers from OTAPS sold items on twenty tables. Common and unusual machines appeared as well as a variety of horns, advertising, records, cylinders and other related items. Several dealers reported outstanding sales.

We look forward to our summer meeting of the Oregon Territory Antique Phonographs Society at the home of Russ Ridley in Victoria, BC, Canada. Yes, for us, the old Oregon Territory extends right into the homes of our northern Canadian friends. Visit us in Canada, July 28, 2018. -- Stan Stanford
